A 12 Step Plan for Helping Your Dog Adjust during a Move
Moving to a new home is an exciting milestone, but for dogs, it can be a confusing and even stressful experience. Unlike humans, they don’t understand why their environment is suddenly changing, and the disruption to their routine can make them anxious. When I moved from Texas to Maryland, my dog was confused by the packing, the long trip, and the new home with a much smaller backyard that we had before. He was clearly stressed by it all, but adjusted very quickly after unpacking.
With a little preparation and patience, you can make the transition smooth for both you and your pup.
When Time Becomes Precious: End-of-Life Photography for Your Dog
There is a moment many pet parents dread.
The diagnosis. The quiet shift in the room. The words, “We don’t have much longer.”

Returning to What I Love: Picking Up the Camera Again
Like many of you, the past couple years brought challenges that required my full attention. There were health issues in my family, caretaking responsibilities, and just the emotional weight of trying to hold everything together. I didn’t stop loving photography—I just didn’t have the energy to give it the focus and time it deserves. And when photography is about capturing joy, connection, and presence, I believe it needs to come from a place of honesty. So I took a step back, gave myself grace, and waited until I felt ready to step forward again.
Now, I’m happy to say: I’m back.

Understanding and Nurturing Your Rescued Cat
Adopting a rescued cat can be a wonderfully rewarding experience that brings a lot of love into your home. As a photographer who has captured many moments between pets and their families, I’ve seen the unique challenges and joys that come with rescuing a cat. Full disclosure: while I have rescued a number of cats, I have not had one since I moved to Maryland in 2003 because I have had dogs that were not cat friendly enough to have one in the home with them and expect to come home to a intact house. I do have some grand cats that I love on regularly. So I have done some research to help with this blog.

Why do dogs dig, and more importantly, how can we manage this behavior? Let’s dig into the reasons behind this behavior and find positive ways to redirect it.
