Returning to What I Love: Picking Up the Camera Again
You may have noticed that things were quiet around here for quite some time—no new blog posts, fewer social media updates, and no emails about seasonal sessions or new offerings. It wasn’t something I planned, but life has a way of pulling us in different directions sometimes. And for a while, I had to put photography, and even writing about photography, on pause.
Like many of you, the past couple years brought challenges that required my full attention. There were health issues in my family, caretaking responsibilities, and just the emotional weight of trying to hold everything together. I didn’t stop loving photography—I just didn’t have the energy to give it the focus and time it deserves. And when photography is about capturing joy, connection, and presence, I believe it needs to come from a place of honesty. So I took a step back, gave myself grace, and waited until I felt ready to step forward again.
Now, I’m happy to say: I’m back.
Back with a fresh perspective, a renewed sense of purpose, and a heart that’s wide open to making meaningful images again.
I’ve spent the past few months not just catching my breath, but also remembering why I started this in the first place. It’s not just about creating beautiful portraits—it’s about preserving the love people share. Whether that’s a dog who’s been your shadow through every season of life, or a child whose smile changes just a little each year, or a quiet moment between generations that you don’t want to forget—I’m here for all of that.
And let me tell you, I’m not just stepping back in where I left off. I’m coming back with new ideas, special session offerings, and a deeper understanding of how precious these moments are. these special offereings, like Heritage portraits, painted portraits, elegant sessions with clients and pets dressed to the nines—these aren’t just services. They’re invitations to remember who you are and celebrate the people (and pets) who make your life whole, just like all of my photography, but with special emphasis and preparation.
So if you’ve been thinking about booking a session, or if you’ve been waiting for the right time to create something special—this is your sign. I’d love to catch up, hear what’s been going on in your world, and dream up a session that feels just right for where you are now.
To my loyal clients: thank you for your patience. To those of you just discovering me: welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. And to everyone who’s thinking, “Maybe this is the year I finally do it”—let’s make it happen. Let’s create the kind of memories you’ll treasure for decades to come.
The camera is ready. So am I.
